Volunteer Day with Cummins South Africa

On the 9th of May 2018 a Volunteer Day was held at Minerva High School located in Alexandra, Gauteng with Cummins South Africa. Upon arrival Cummins received warm welcome from the pupils and staff at Minerva High School. Cummins has been supporting Minerva High School for over 2 years ago and still continue to support them through FTFA.

During the volunteer day Cummins staff harvested the winter crops. Thereafter the Cummins team was divided in groups and allocated places in the vegetable garden to begin harvesting. After harvesting, they removed weeds, added compost, mulched, watered and planted out winter seedlings.

Minerva High School is very grateful to Cummins for their continued support. Learners get to work on the garden after school and due to the garden the school has been able to successfully support their feeding scheme which supports 1100 students in the school. The school garden now produces all year round, whereas before the support they used to harvest in summer season only.
