Can I buy a tree to plant in my own garden?

As FTFA partners with wholesale nurseries to donate trees to beneficiaries, it will be best to contact your local nursery. We will, however, consider tree orders of 100 trees or more.

What tree is this?

We’d love to help you with all requests but we spend most of our time working with beneficiaries to plant food gardens and trees. We often we don’t have capacity to answer all tree inquiries. For a personalised response, we recommend taking a picture of the tree to your local nursery.

How is my donated tree doing? How do I know my donated tree will survive?

FTFA has stringent assessment and monitoring and evaluation components to each of its programmes:

  • Beneficiaries apply and, before trees are donated, are assessed to ensure they are determined, and willing and able, to care for trees.
  • Hardy, fast-growing, indigenous species are selected to ensure a high survival rate.
  • We implement and follow up until one year after the tree planting. If you want to know how your tree is doing after one year, we will check up on trees when our facilitators are in the area.

How do I know my food garden initiative will continue after we donate?

FTFA has stringent assessment and monitoring and evaluation components to each of its programmes. Assessments take place and we evaluate if the food garden would be able to expand production before initiating training, submitting grants, or procuring infrastructure. Please ask to have a look at our Permaculture Starter Pack model for more information.
