Climate Action

African Climate Reality Project

The African Climate Reality Project (ACRP) is a branch of the US-based The Climate Reality Project. The ACRP was established to support African Climate Reality Leaders in their climate action efforts to combat climate change across the continent. The global climate crisis disproportionately affects Africa. Therefore the ACRP works with African Climate Reality Leaders, governments, NGOs, and scientists to create tools and resources to support a network of African leaders who mobilise communities to find solutions to climate change and call on world leaders for more ambitious action.

In 2014, Al Gore (former US Vice President and Nobel Laureate) trained hundreds of Africans from across the continent at The Climate Reality Project‘s Leadership Corps training in South Africa. To date, over 650 Africans have attended one of these trainings and now volunteer as Climate Reality Leaders in over thirty countries in Africa.

The Climate Reality Project is one of the world’s leading organisations dedicated to mobilising action around climate change. With a global movement more than 5 million strong and a grassroots network of trained Climate Reality Leaders, the Climate Reality Project is spreading the truth of the climate crisis to communities everywhere and creating cultural momentum to solve it.

ACRP is hosted by Food & Trees for Africa and coordinates with Climate Reality Leaders, volunteers, NGOs, CSOs, and government departments to turn the volume up on urgent climate action.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change special report on Global Warming of 1.5 °C tells us that we have until 2030 to stop climate change in its tracks. The time for ambitious climate action is now, so join the African Climate Reality Project and find out how you too can #LeadOnClimate.
